Our conference’s roots reach back to the early 1990s and the Southern Comfort Conference. Although SCC isn’t currently in operation, many of our organizers and attendees have fond memories of their time at Southern Comfort.
Paradise itself started in 2021 in order to carry on the spirit of the original SCC events. We strive to provide a place of community, support, and education for the entire transgender population and our allies in the larger LGBTQ+ community. Our attendees include pre- and post-transition trans women and men, intersex people, non-binary and gender-fluid people, crossdressers and drag queens/kings. We also invite attendance and participation by all members of the larger LGBTQ+ community, as well as spouses/partners, family members, friends, allies, helping professionals, and any of the general public interested in learning about transgender issues.
The conference hosts a multitude of speakers: from individuals sharing their stories, to activists championing their causes, to healthcare providers educating on trans-specific topics. We strive to highlight trans artists of all disciplines, especially those in our core area of Atlanta and the South-Eastern United States. Some of the highlights of each year are the oppotunities for networking and forging community bonds in a space that embraces one’s true self.
Paradise Conference is very much a grassroots effort and we are always looking for suggestions to better serve our community. If you have any suggestions we’d love to hear from you, please Contact Us! We are also always looking for passionate people to Get Involved!
